A fun outing, when the salmon are running (August or September), is to rent a 16’ boat w/ small outboard motor from one of the boat rental places in Sekiu. The typical routine is to get an early start, and fish for a few hours in the morning; then return to the dock and have breakfast at one of the restaurants in Sekiu. Then resume fishing. Trolling or mooching w/ herring are the usual methods for taking salmon. If the salmon are not biting, try wearing a bright colored hat for a change of pace. You never know, your luck might change...
