September/October are good months to fish for salmon in W. Washington using lures on rivers. Although it may be difficult to get some species of salmon to strike a smaller sized steelhead fly, Cohos can be enticed into taking such a fly. They will also take spinners and spoons. We talked to a guy in a boat who hooked a 25 lb. Chinook using a Cleo lure.  Someone asked if he needed help landing it.  His answer: “Yes!  A King can make a fool out of a man....”
