Mexico City & Puebla (Nov. 1985)

On Nov 16, 1985 I flew to Mexico City. I was part of a guided trip to climb the Mexican Volcanoes. Phil was the guide for the trip. I took a cab to get to the Polanco Hotel, and I’m sure I paid too much to get there. I met the other team members after I arrived at the Hotel. We spent some time in Mexico City. I had time to visit the Olympic Stadium, which was used during the ’68 Olympic Games (see Reference 1). After climbing Popo, we spent time in Puebla, before heading to Orizaba.  While we were there, a bike race came through Puebla, which was interesting. Puebla is a good size City, and it was nice to walk around in it and take some photos. When I got into the country side, I took some photos through the window of the van that we rented. Phil brought a guide assistant from Mexico on this trip named Philip. One time we went the wrong way on a one way street, and a policeman stopped us. Philip told Phil that he had to pay a bribe to the policeman because of this infraction. Phil reluctantly paid it.
