As recorded in Wayne’s Journal: On 16 July 1994, a friend of mine (Scott) and I (Wayne) left Seattle at 10:00 am, with the intent to climb Mt. Adams via the North Ridge route. We took a break at the Adams Cafe in Randal. We agreed that an “Old Timer” there resembled the late Harry Truman (of Mt. St. Helens/Spirit Lake fame). We registered at the Randal Ranger Station. We reached the Killen Creek trailhead at 3:00 pm. We soon thereafter reached the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) at 4:30 pm. We arrived at our camp site at ~6800’ at 6:00 pm. We decided to not pitch a tent, since the weather was nice.
The following morning we started hiking at 4:35 am. We saw 5 goats on the North Ridge route. We went up 2 steep snow fields (put crampons on twice). We reached the true summit at 12:20 pm. We stayed on the summit for 30 minutes.
During the descent, I retrieved the ~25 wands I had placed during the ascent. We avoided the two steep snow fields by staying on the ridge crest. We reached our camp at 5:30 pm. It took an hour and 35 minutes to pick up our camp. We resumed hiking at 7:05 pm. We reached the PCT at 7:50 pm. And we reached the trailhead at 8:50 pm. We started our drive back to Seattle at 9:00 pm. I arrived at my home in Seattle at 1:30 am.

Note 3: During this trip I took several photos of the Mt. Adams Lava Ridge route (see photos below); I climbed Lava Ridge route with Dan D. on 9 Sept. 1990. On that trip, we descended the North Ridge route (my first time on the North Ridge; Dan had been on the route previously). I did not take many photos on that specific climb. However, additional information regarding Dan can be found via Note 2.
